About Us

We are a group of Christ Followers who desire to become more like Him by engaging Him in every aspect of our lives.

We would love to have you join us!

If you have more questions give the office a call to meet the pastor.

What We Believe

What We Believe

We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.  God, eternal and uncreated, exists in three persons equal in deity, power and glory: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Son, Jesus Christ, came willingly to earth in the flesh to be our perfect sacrifice, dying on the cross once for all sin, to offer salvation from eternal damnation. He rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and stands before God interceding for those who believe.

We believe in the literal second coming of Christ at the end of the age when He will return to earth personally and visibly to consummate His Kingdom. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, apart from works. There is no other way to enter into the presence of God and His Kingdom except through Jesus Christ.

The Father and the Son sent the person of the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth and intimate fellowship with God for the purpose of becoming Christlike. The Holy Spirit guides, fills and empowers believers for ministry and witness.

We believe that His Gifts are manifested in the Church today, and that the Church is God’s primary instrument through which He is fulfilling His redemptive purposes on the earth. We also affirm the priesthood of all believers and the importance of every Christian being joined with, and actively involved in, a local community of the saints.

Our Mission

What to expect when visiting Wellspring

Variety

That’s what you’ll find when you visit Wellspring. We strive to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit for each service. This often results in testimonies, spontaneous worship, prayer ministry, scripture readings and other biblical exhortations.

Children

There is Kids' Church available for Kinder through 5th grade students.   Toddlers and preschoolers meet upstairs for Play N' Worship.  Our children join us for the communion part of service on the first Sunday of the month.  You will find them attending August services to give our teachers a break.  Look around and you will see youth (6th - 12th graders) serving in various ways during the service.

Offering

During the service (usually during worship) tithes and offerings will be received.

Communion

Communion is usually observed on the first Sunday of each month.  The Lord's Table is open to all believers.

Diaconate Offering

On the first Sunday of the month we take a special offering just for those in need.

Challenging Messages

You can expect to hear the preaching of God’s Word, the Bible, and an invitation for hearers to respond. The messages are fervent, inspiring and practical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

Most people will dress in casual weekend attire, so dress how you feel comfortable and you'll fit right in.  In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt.  (NO SHIRT, NO SHOES, NO SERVICE)

Is there childcare?

Babies are welcome to stay in the service with their parents or parents can use the "cry room" upstairs overlooking the main worship service which is stocked with rockers, toys, and a changing table.

  • Play N' Worship - Toddlers and preschoolers. Upstairs.
  • Kids' Church - Kinder through 5th grades. Downstairs.  Joins adults for communion in main service on first Sundays at 11 a.m.

What happens in the children's classes?

We believe in giving children opportunities to worship, to pray, to learn God's Word, to listen for his voice, and to love others.  We want these activities to always be age-appropriate, and taught in the context of loving relationships.  See the children's ministry pages for more detailed information.

What's the worship like?

Music is a major feature of our worship - before, during and even after the service itself. Instruments may range from voices, piano and organ to synthesizers, guitars (acoustic and electric), and drums (usually all of the above).

Whatever the accompaniment, inspired singing is the order of the day. We sing songs from various artists that include but are not limited to Vineyard Music, Jesus Culture, Cory Asbury, Chris Tomlin, Enter the Worship Circle, United Pursuit Band, Lincoln Brewster and many, many more...

Can I get prayer?

Prayer is usually available after church. Just talk to the Pastor or ask anyone and they will help you get ministry.

What about spiritual gifts?

At Wellspring we do believe in the operation of spiritual gifts. The planned service order may be suspended as individuals speak or share as prompted by the Holy Spirit, under the supervision of the pastor (1 Corinthians 12-14).

One may speak out in an unknown tongue, a Spirit-guided language other than that of the congregation. Another individual, or perhaps the same one, will then give the interpretation.

On occasion, the Spirit may prompt someone to speak out, to prophesy, in the language of the congregation. The gift of prophecy, the gift of tongues and the gift of interpretation, and other spiritual gifts bring the church immediate challenge and confirm Bible truths.

Our Beginnings

Our Beginnings

The congregation was organized as the Ellensburgh Baptist Church of Ellensburgh, Washington Territory, in 1887. In 1888-1889 the original building was built at the corner of 4th Avenue and Sprague Street. An education addition was added in the 1930's. A fire destroyed the original building in 1944. The current sanctuary was built onto the education addition and completed in 1949. The name was officially changed in 1970 to First Baptist Church of Ellensburg. In 2004 the congregation voted to be an independent congregation with no denomination affiliation. After much prayer, in 2009 the congregation chose the name Wellspring Christian Fellowship.
